Hometown Sports Report 05-08-08

One day after the Hart Indians softball team clinched at least a share of the Foothill League Championship, their male counterparts mirrored the accomplishment.  The Indians baseball team clinched at least a share of the league crown with a 6-0 victory over West Ranch.  Valencia kept pace with the Indians, and also locked up second place and a playoff berth with a 5-1 win over Saugus.  The Centurions have also clinched a playoff spot with third place in league.  League play wraps up on Friday.

There is an addition to the College of the Canyons Cougars that were named All-Conference in the WSC.  John Contreraz from Sylmar and Julian Cruz of Saugus were named Honorable Mentions.

The Hart Indians softball team can sit back and watch today.  The Indians have clinched at least a share of league, but the Valencia Vikings are looking to grab at least a share of their eighth straight league title.  The Vikings take on West Ranch today in the final league game before playoffs start.

The Los Angeles Lakers used the crowd support for newly crowned MVP Kobe Bryant and disposed of Utah 120-110 last night.  The Lakers have a 2-0 lead in the series, with game three in Utah on Friday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers were hammered by the New York Mets, 12-1 yesterday.  The Dodgers get the night off before Houston comes to town tomorrow night, live on KHTS at 7:00pm.
