Joe Messina, a conservative political commentator and William S. Hart Union High School Board member, credited his radio show on KHTS AM-1220 with giving him a launching pad that had landed him on CNN and other major news outlets to discuss political issues.

“I started at KHTS eight years ago,” said Messina, “and now I’ve been on CNN now a couple of times.”
His latest appearance, on a Nov. 29 show, was in response to Libyan media outlets using President Donald Trump’s twitter attack of CNN to discredit the major news outlets reporting of modern day slave auctions in the country.
“It was all things Trump,” Messina said of the news that day. “It was a Trump day.”
He described himself as the “conservative in the room,” but said the conversation between him, CNN host John Vause and Democratic strategist Caroline Heldman as a positive one, with spirited debate.

Messina, who published a book last year, thanked KHTS for the chance to speak, and be heard by a growing number of people.
“They never put any handcuffs on me for what I could say,” he said. “From KHTS, (now) we’re on 37 stations across the country.”
