It’s that time again The 8th Annual Relay For Life is just around the corner. Nancy Coulter and Agnes Russell with the American Society spent the morning of Thursday, April 26, 2007 at our Community Resource Station. On Thursday, May 3, 2007 we were joined by Kymmer Crookston, Candy Spahr and John Fortman. They were featured on the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight Show – hosted by Janice Murray and sponsored by our friends at Valencia Acura.
Nancy’s daughter Heather was diagnosed 7 times and today is a 13-year survivor. Agnes is a 7-year cancer survivor. Both Nancy and Agnes are very active with the American Cancer Society and the Relay For Life event.
Relay For Life is a community gathering where everyone can participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at local parks, schools or fairgrounds. Our local Relay For Life will take place at Central Park located on Bouquet Canyon Rd in Santa Clarita – Saturday and Sunday, June 2 & 3 2007. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event – because cancer never sleeps. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length.
You can give a gift to the American Cancer Society and keep the fire burning with a luminaria in memory of someone lost to cancer, in honor of someone still fighting or to recognize someone who has beaten the disease. When the sun goes down at Central Park, hundreds of luminaria will light the way under the stars. This ceremony of light symbolizes the hope and perseverance with which we all continue to fight.
Last years Relay For Life raised $442,000 dollars for the American Cancer Society. This year, the goal is to top $500,000. You can help by joining them June 2 & 3.
We want to thank Nancy Coulter, Kymmer Crookston, Candy Spahr John Fortman and Agnes Russell for stopping by to speak about this important event.
