The KHTS Community Resource Station was pleased to welcome back our friends from the Santa Clarita chapter of the American Red Cross on June 19th, 2006.

Red Cross volunteers and board members were featured on the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight, which is sponsored by Valencia Acura. They promoted the ‘Hometown Hero' Awards Breakfast coming up this September and talked about the many ways the American Red Cross helps people and communities in need.

The Santa Clarita chapter has assisted in many disasters such as the Northridge Earthquake and most recently, they coordinated efforts with other Los Angeles chapters to assist millions of people affected by Hurricane Katrina – one of the worst natural disasters in modern times.

For nearly a century, the American Red Cross has prepared people to save lives through health and safety education and training. From first aid and CPR training to swimming and lifeguard instruction, American Red Cross Preparedness programs help people lead safer and healthier lives. The Red Cross constantly strives to respond to the preparedness concerns of Americans at home, in school and in the workplace.
