The KHTS Community Resource Station was happy to welcome back our friends from Carousel Ranch.
Celebrating their 10th year, Carousel Ranch is a therapy-based equine program specializing in horseback therapy. Kids with various physical, cognitive and sensory disabilities benefit from this therapy which is recognized by many medical professionals and therapists.
12-year old Carly has been riding at Carousel Ranch for just over a year. Carly has Cerebral Palsy. Her muscles are tight and it is difficult for her to move. The therapy she receives helps her to stretch and provides an amazing workout that is fun and builds muscle strength. She loves riding at Carousel and hopes to one day own her own horse.
Approximatly 86 kids per week benefit from the physical therapy they receive at Carousel Ranch. Three types of equestrian therapy are offered. Their programs include Vaulting (gymnastics on horseback), English and western riding. This therapy helps to improve stength, coordination and the riders self-esteem. The rider learns to face new challenges which can help them physically and mentally producing favorable improvements in riders of all ages.
We want to thank Denise Tomey, Carly Gibbs and her parents Susan and Fred for spending time with us at the KHTS Community Resource Station.
