On March 8th, 2010, KHTS was pleased to welcome Circle of Hope to the KHTS Studio. We featured this organization on the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight – hosted by Janice Murray . The KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight airs Mondays at 10am on AM-1220 KHTS.

Colleen Shaffer dropped by to talk about the assistance and services Circle of Hope can offer those diagnosed with breast cancer living in the Santa Clarita Valley that are experiencing financial hardships or whose benefits fall short.

Circle of Hope is a 501 (C) 3 Non-Profit organization and depends on donations and sponsorships that make it possible to provide financial and emotional support to those breast cancer patients that truly need it most.

Circle of Hope is the creation of Colleen Schaffer. Colleen was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1999. After a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation treatment, Colleen spent the next three years in remission. In 2002 her cancer returned and spread to her liver, spine and hips. She dawned a pink wig, wings and the ‘Angel of Hope’ was born. In 2004 Colleen started Circle of Hope.

The 6th Annual ‘Walk for Hope 5K fundraising event takes place on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Castaic Lake. Families, groups and even dogs are encouraged to attend this event which also features a “Peoples Choice Car Show”, food, music and more.
