The Santa Clarita Food Pantry provides food to those in need who live in the Santa Clarita Valley on a short-term, supplemental basis. They can provide up to 3 meals per family member per week. Clients receive food twice a month. The quantity of food distributed depends on the size of the family. For example, a family of five receives 3 full grocery bags of donated food and 1 bag of food per month as well as bread, milk and fresh produce and hygiene items.
The mission of the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry is to alleviate hunger throughout the Santa Clarita Valley. This is accomplished with a dynamic group of volunteers who source donations, package nutritious food to stretch a family's food supply and distribute that food to qualifying residents in the Santa Clarita Valley.
A number of fundraising event are held throughout the year that benefit the SCV Food Pantry with proceeds from this event going directly to the Food Pantry. The Adopt-a-Family program kicks off each year after Thanksgiving. Each year, they team with the Rotary club to provide Thanksgiving turkeys to families around Santa Clarita.
The Santa Clarita Food Pantry is located at 24133 Railroad Avenue in Newhall. You can reach them at (661) 255-9078 or visit them on the web at www.scvfoodpantry.org
