State Officials will hold a “listening session” on Saturday, Oct. 29, in Santa Clarita at which the public will be invited to comment on a “Goods Movement Action Plan” that prioritizes transportation and infrastructure projects. State Officials from the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency will host a  “listening session” on Saturday, Oct. 29, 10 -12 Noon, at the Santa Clarita City Hall Council Chambers, 23920 Valencia Boulevard. The Goods Move Action Plan characterizes the “why” and the “what” of the State’s involvement in goods movement in four segments: (1) the goods movement industry and its growth potential; (2) the four “port-to-border” transportation corridors that constitute the goods movement backbone and the associated inventory of infrastructure projects being planned or are underway; (3) the extent of environmental and community impacts as well as a description of mitigation approaches; and (4) key aspects of public safety and homeland security issues. Public comments will be limited to three minutes and speakers are advised to submit their remarks in writing.  Testimony taken at the “listening session” will be submitted as part of a final Goods Movement Action Plan Phase I report now being finalized before submission to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Other listening sessions are scheduled for November 5^th in Santa Barbara at the Main Public Library and November 12^th in Rancho Cucamonga at the Senior Citizens Center at Central Park.
