Movies-to-Talk-About Screens “The Ride” – May 11th Print E-mail
The short film documents the AIDS/LifeCycle event
Thursday, May 11th from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, the Movies-to-Talk-About series will present the short film “The Ride,” which documents the AIDS/LifeCycle event in June of 2005 when over 1600 cyclists rode over a week from San Francisco to Los Angeles raising nearly $7 million for HIV/AIDS services in those two cities. There will be a discussion with Ran Mullins from the HIV Education department of the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, one of the agencies that benefits from the annual event, and who was a cyclist in the ride. Local Unitarian Universalist minister Rev. Ricky Hoyt, who participated in the AIDS/LifeCycle rides in both 2004 and 2005 and is currently training to ride again in this year’s event, will also be on hand. Movies-to-Talk-About is free and open to the public. The location of the screening is Vincenzo’s Pizza on Lyons, near the 5-freeway.
