Sailing Toward a Cure for Lou Gehrig’s Disease in the Antelope Valley Print E-mail

The Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Antelope Valley Chapter announces an event to remember- “Sailing Toward a Cure” ALS Research Dinner to be held at the Palmdale Cultural Center on Friday, October 14, 2005 at 6:00pm hosted by Antelope Valley ’s very own Mitchell Chase. Three special individuals who lost their lives to ALS, David Millen, David Stiers, and John Calandri, touched the lives of so many people in the Antelope Valley and beyond.  David Millen was Principal of Cimarron Elementary School in Palmdale.  David Stiers worked at Lockheed in Palmdale.  John Calandri owned Calandri Farms here in the Antelope Valley .  To celebrate their lives, MDA has partnered with their wives, Sharon Millen, Betty Stiers, and Barbara Calandri, along with many friends and family, to raise money for ALS research. This ALS fund-raising event will be anything but somber!  We have a silent auction with trips, gift baskets, gift certificates, and more.  A delicious dinner of all your land and sea favorites will be catered by a local favorite, Bakery Express.  A Polynesian dance troop, will entertain us with a very unique performance.  DJ Mark Clason of Mirage Entertainment Consultants will keep the party going. Thirty-two people from the Antelope Valley have passed away from ALS in the last two years.  Our goal is to make a difference and find a cure.  Funds will also be used locally for those individuals living with ALS to make their lives more comfortable. MDA gives more money to ALS research and services than any other organization in the . Tickets are $75 (tax-deductible) and includes dinner, auction, and entertainment.

You can purchase tickets by calling MDA at (818) 981-8200 during normal business hours or the committee chair, Sharon Millen, at (661) 317-0301.   Our website has additional information: www.cureforals.com.  Please be sure to reserve your tickets before the event.  Seating is limited.
