Santa Clarita Best Place to Live in California Print E-mail
Santa Clarita was the only California city in the top 20 for Money Magazine’s “Best Places to Live” ranking for 2006, released this month. Santa Clarita’s high quality of life, access to leisure and cultural activities, increase in jobs and primo weather were all factors that helped make Santa Clarita a top Money Magazine pick.

The ranking is based on a series of indicators that include crime rates, proximity to leisure activities, jobs, weather, schools and more. The ranking also includes health indicators, median age, education levels and the economy.

“Santa Clarita is a premier City in California. We’ve got it all! We’ve got great weather, a low crime rate, low unemployment, a booming economy, terrific schools, an award winning local city government, proximity to major attractions; all with a wonderful small town feeling,” commented Mayor Laurene Weste.

Santa Clarita has an impressive 18% job growth over the last five years, as compared to an average job growth in the nation of about 10%. This is reflective of Santa Clarita’s thriving economy and the City’s proactive approach to improving the City’s job/housing balance.
Santa Clarita ranked as number 18 out of 100 top ranking cities in the nation, and was the only top-ranking City in California.
