Stonecrest Community Will Annex to City Print E-mail
Residents of the Stonecrest community in east Canyon Country will be welcomed with open arms into the City of Santa Clarita, following recordation of their annexation, which is expected next the week by the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO).

LAFCO is expected to formally approve the annexation at their next regular meeting on July 26 at 9 a.m. Following the approval, the annexation is expected to become final within a few days, at which time the City will be contacting various service providers to let them know that Stonecrest residents are officially part of the City of Santa Clarita.

“We will be contacting the Sheriffs department to begin a higher level of patrols in Stonecrest as part of our contract with the L.A. County Sheriffs department. We will also be letting Blue Barrel/Waste Management know that Stonecrest residents are now entitled to a higher level of trash and recycling services at the City’s significantly less, contracted fee. Also, Stonecrest residents will be able to sign up for City sports and recreation programs at the reduced, City resident rate, and come election time, Stonecrest residents will have the ability to vote for all five city councilmembers. Of course Stonecrest will also be free of the County unincorporated area’s five percent utility user tax as well” explained Ken Pulskamp, City Manager.

“The City is thrilled to welcome the Stonecrest community into our City family and we will immediately begin seeking opportunities to support and enhance their quality of life as City residents,” commented Mayor Laurene Weste.
