Valley View Hosts Their Own Bella Via Print E-mail
Tuesday, 24 October 2006
“Bella Via” is a school wide program which creates large street artwork on the playground through the use of pastel chalk.  Students and community members bring to life masterpiece artwork through the use of Mathematics.

The goal is to give students an appreciation of the composition and creation of multi-ethnic Art Works by emulating both established Great Masters and current Artists through the use of Modanari Street Painting, known to us as “Bella Via”.

The skills students acquire reflect the California State Standards in the areas of Mathematics and Fine Arts.  A link is built between what is taught in the classroom and give it real life application.  Students are able to see that Math has a practical purpose that can be used to create very beautiful products.

This large scale project brings together students and community members in its creation and then in the pleasure of public viewing.

Valley View will also host an Art Faire in their Multipurpose Room where artwork by every student in the school is on display.

This year, both the Art Faire and Bella Via will take place on Thursday, October 26.
