The City of Santa Clarita’s WorkSource Center is working with local businesses to provide jobs for evacuees from Hurricane Katrina.  Los Angeles County recently notified the Santa Clarita Center that evacuees looking for employment would be referred to their local WorkSource Center. 

 

The Santa Clarita WorkSource Center is reaching out to local businesses who may be looking for workers of all skill levels and encouraging them to offer jobs to displaced hurricane victims.  Job seekers will be eligible for normal services provided by the WorkSource system, but will also be given special assistance to help them get back on their feet. 

 

“We feel in the wake of such a huge disaster, offering special assistance through the WorkSource Center is the least we can do,” said Cheryl Adams, WorkSource Business Services Representative.  “Although Santa Clarita is geographically removed from the disaster, it is important that we still do our part.  We are confident that the folks being relocated to our area will appreciate the assistance.”
