Local man compiles thoughts from successful agents
If you’ve ever tuned into AM-1220 on Friday afternoons at 1:00pm, no doubt you’ve heard the wily voice of Gene Bleecker hosting his popular Welcome Home show.
Bleecker is a fixture in the real estate market here in Santa Clarita, and his show focuses on bringing in the “beautiful people of real estate” to discuss listings and the market.
While Bleecker himself is not an agent, he is the CEO of the Santa Clarita division of First Southwestern Title Company, and has been involved with the business for many years.
He’s now released a book, which is a collection of thoughts from successful real estate agents, and it’s designed to help guide new agents along.
“I have seen so many new agents get into the business and within two years they got out because they didn’t have the right direction on what they need to know, not just to survive, but to really thrive in real estate,”

Bleecker comments.
The book, titled the Golden Rules of Real Estate Success, is not simply a tell-all by Gene Bleecker. In fact, it is composed of 101 thoughts from other real estate agents in and around Santa Clarita.
“My thought was, ‘why don’t I talk to my real estate friends in the community, talk to them about their successes, talk to them about their challenges…if they were going to have their son or daughter get involved in real estate, what advice would they give them?’” What followed was over 300 submissions, of which Bleecker says he whittled down to 101.
Some of the popular thoughts include:
# 26: Role play with a seasoned agent. You can’t be prepared for every scenario but role playing with a veteran will certainly make you more prepared.
# 74 Listen more, talk less.
# 100 Plant a lot of seeds. Prospect consistently and in many different ways. Contact your social and geographical farms once every three weeks and “remain consistent.”
Bleecker’s plan is to give the first few hundred copies of his book away for free to those in the business who can use it. Publication after that is currently being negotiated.
