Fire crews battle two Santa Clarita fires.

A brush fire broke out in Castaic, near Lake Hughes Road at about 1:30 this afternoon. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, and were able to quickly put it out. The fire reportedly ran into a cement drainage ditch which caused it to run low on fuel. 

Unfortunately, two outbuildings have been lost in this fire. We have not confirmed the type of buildings, however they are not believed to be homes.  

In a separate incident, a 1 acre brush fire was swiftly knocked down by Los Angeles County Fire teams in the Sand Canyon area, at Sultus Rd. and Rolling Hills.  No injuries were reported, and no structures were believed to be damaged in the Sand Canyon area. 

With the current heat wave and dry conditions predicted to continue this weekend, all Santa Clarita residents are advised to be extra cautious when dealing with open flames, cigarette butts or any other item that can cause fires.
