One arrest made, 8 citations issued.

 

Sheriff’s deputies responded to 170 fireworks-related calls Friday night, issuing 8 citations and confiscating contraband fireworks at 11 locations.
Lt. Andy Rosso said that one felony arrest was made at approximately 4 p.m. in Newhall. Christopher Aguirre, 18, from Val Verde, was stopped  on Newhall Avenue near 14th Street by traffic officers. Upon searching his vehicle, they discovered a cache of bottle rockets in the car.
Aguirre was booked at Santa Clarita Sheriff’ Station, where he remains in lieu of $20,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.

Fire department officials were unavailable for comment.
