Things are getting a little spooky over at Heritage Junction. The home base of Santa Clarita’s historical reference has started fielding a lot of questions lately asking if the antique buildings on the lot are haunted.

“I sometimes tell stories that I have heard or experienced, but mostly we have tried to avoid the subject,” says SCV Historical Society Executive Director Pat Saletore. “I hear things all the time that I chalk up to spending time in old buildings, my imagination or whatever.  Every now and then, though, I find myself walking out to the main entrance calling ‘Hello?  Is someone there?’ –when there isn’t anyone there.”

The Historical Society was contacted recently by the American Paranormal Research Association (A.P.R.A). The group searched Heritage Junction, and to the surprise of some, they found some things.

Saletore rhetorically asks. “They found primarily EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena—recordings that are not heard by investigators, but recorded on electronic media like tape recorders or digital recorders) and audio recordings that were actually experienced by investigators.  The really spooky thing is that some of them supported the stories we have been told by psychics who have been invited to visit!”

After experiencing what they believed to be paranormal activity, the APRA offered to co-sponsor a Ghost Hunting Party at the Junction with the Historical Society.

The event is planned for August 30th, and a maximum of 16 participants will receive the following;

  • A discussion about ghost hunting procedures and equipment
  • Catered dinner
  • Ghost-hunting sessions in three buildings at Heritage Junction
  • A midnight snack
  • Sleepover in Saugus Train Station’s Freight Room
  • Continental Breakfast
  • DVD of evidence captured after review by APRA sent to each participant

The cost for Ghost Hunting session will be $185 per person, and reservations can be made by contacting Pat Saletore at 661-254-1275.
