Local residents with experience in nursing or crime scene investigation are being sought by the Wm. S. Hart Union High School District’s Regional Occupational Program to teach some of the most popular classes in the local ROP lineup.

Five years of experience in the field or related education qualifies teachers for a preliminary designated subject credential, which will allow them to teach an ROP class. The positions are part time, usually outside of regular working hours, and currently pay $34 per hour.

Residents with five years of recent nursing experience are needed to teach a nurse assistant class, requiring approximately 10 hours of classroom time each week.

In order to teach the forensics/crime scene investigation class, an ROP teacher must have five years full-time experience in law enforcement relating to forensics or some related college coursework which would apply to the field. A high school diploma is required. The ROP position would require approximately six hours of weekly classroom work.

Both classes are very popular with students, and the new teachers are being sought to replace existing teachers who are no longer available. The forensics position is open immediately, while the nursing assistant class would start with the spring semester.
