Big year in high school sports gets a fond farewell.

Tuesday afternoon, Lockheed Federal Credit Union’s Chief Operating Officer Phil Hart joined the KHTS Sports Department in handing out awards to Santa Clarita’s most accomplished high school athletes.
During the awards ceremony at Marie Callenders, high school students who excelled in various sports over the course of the 2007-2008 season each received individual recognition.
They were joined by their teammates and coaches who recalled the year’s highlights, including Foothill League Player of the year accolades for Hart football star Running Back Delano Howell and Valencia Basketball standout John Otavka.

Each week during specific sporting seasons, one local athlete is chosen by the KHTS sports department as the Lockheed Player of the Week. As a result, the winning player’s booster club is awarded $250 from Lockheed Federal Credit Union.
