July is Parks and Recreation Month and time for all members of the community to enjoy the many healthy leisure opportunities offered close to home.

The City of Santa Clarita provides the community with 20 parks, 8 swimming pools, 37.7 miles of trails, a sports complex, aquatic center, skate park, community center, and hundreds of classes and programs.  According to the City, all the programs are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our residents through recreation programming, leisure activities, and conservation efforts.

The City of Santa Clarita is joining the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) in celebrating July as the kick off of summer programming at parks and recreation facilities.  Since 1985, the NRPA has designated the month of July as “Recreation and Parks month.”

Image“The City of Santa Clarita proclaims July as Parks and Recreation month and encourages the public to celebrate by visiting a park, trail, recreational facility, or by taking advantage of a fun summer program,” commented Mayor Bob Kellar.

“Parks and recreation plays an important role in creating a healthy community through the many amenities and diverse and innovative recreation programming.  July is an ideal time to pull the community together to volunteer, get involved in great outdoor activities, advocate for parks and recreation, and enjoy the many facilities and programs our City offers,” commented Rick Gould, Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services for the City of Santa Clarita.
