Supervisor seeks to shorten drive for business owners and residents needing licenses, certificates.
A motion by Supervisor Mike Antonovich to study placing Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk satellite sites in the NorthCounty and the East San Gabriel Valley was unanimously approved Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors.
“New business owners in the Santa Clarita Valley area are currently faced with a drive of over 20 miles to the Van Nuys Office, or over 40 miles to the Lancaster Office to search and apply for fictitious business names,” said Antonovich. “Similarly, residents of Claremont must travel 30 miles to get to the East Los Angeles Office, and 31 miles to get to the Norwalk Office when they need same-day service for birth/death/marriage licenses.”
Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk has its headquarters in Norwalk and satellite offices in Lancaster, Van Nuys, Beverly Hills, East Los Angeles, the Florence-Firestone area, and at LAX.
The motion directs the Chief Executive Officer to report back to the Board during final changes to the budget in September.
