Department prepares to launch two award-winning plays.

Tragedy and comedy are both available on May 9 and 10 in the Theater Room at Saugus High School, when the Advanced Drama class presents two one-hour plays featuring 21 outstanding young Saugus actors.
The first play, which begins at 7 p.m., is entitled “Deoxyribonucleic Acid.” DNA is a serious play about teens who try to cover up a not-so-accidental death. The second play, which begins at 8:30 p.m., is a hilarious comedy about teenage love and school rivalries, featuring a Cupid statue that comes to life.

At 8:30 p.m., the mood switches to one of hilarious comedy. Based on Shakespeare's Midsummer's Night Dream, “Ruckus in the Garden” takes place in a formal garden full of Cupid statues where two rival schools discover they are both on the same field trip.
Under the influence of a Cupid statue which suddenly comes to life, combatants suddenly become confused friends.
The low-income kids from Riverdale plan to have a "ruckus in the garden" with the rich kids from St. Nectan's, and a fight breaks out. Stanley tries non-violence. Rock tries hiding in the bushes. Cupid tries switching identities. Love, magic and laughter bring two schools—and two pairs of young lovers—back together.
