One week ago, the city of Sylmar
was surrounded by a wall of flames, as the Sayre Fire stormed from the hillsides
to the streets, homes and businesses. The fire claimed 487 homes, most of which
were in the Oakridge Mobile Home Park.
Saturday, November 22nd, the rebuilding begins, as MB2
Raceway will host an all-day fundraiser for the Sayre Fire victims.
MB2 is an indoor electric go-cart racing facility located near
the fire area in Sylmar.
From 10:00 a.m. to
9:00 p.m. MB2 will donate a portion
of all electric cart racing proceeds to the fire victims, and it will also
collect donations.
According to MB2 management, they’re hoping to attract a
large number of people to attend and support the cause by offering 25% off on
races all day long.
The Smoke Wagon will be providing food from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00
p.m., and various fire and police departments will be displaying
their vehicles at the event throughout the day.
