SCV Republican Party Will Not Endorse Hart Bond Measure Print E-mail

The William S. Hart High School District is hoping to pass Measure SA, which is a $300 million bond the district says will help bring a new high school to Castaic and modernizations to older schools.

Now, the 38th Assembly District Republican Central Committee has abstained from voting on an endorsement motion, thus putting any possibility of an endorsement before the November 4th election.

This follows a ballot statement filed two weeks ago by a parent group called the Measure V Citizens Oversight Committee that opposes Measure SA. The group is lead by several parents who watch over funds from the Hart District’s previous bond, Measure V, which was passed seven years ago.

“This should send a message to other Republicans in Santa Clarita Valley.  Taxpayers should look carefully at this new bond and they will realize all these projects were promised in Measure V.  We need more accountability and parental input,” declared Joe Messina a member of the Measure V Citizens Oversight Committee and co-chair of Measure V Parents for Reform.

Phil Ellis, president of the Measure V Citizens Oversight Committee and co-chair of the Measure V Parents for Reform stated, “After the Hart District’s pathetic record of spending Measure V money, I am not surprise that the Republican Party refused to endorse Measure SA.”

When the ballot statement was filed, KHTS spoke to Hart District Jaime Castellanos, who addressed the opposition group’s claims. Read that article by clicking here.
