Altercation over insult escalates into stabbing.

A Canyon Country man was arrested Thursday afternoon after stabbing a 17-year old male in Stevenson Ranch in a heated argument over a girl.

The incident occurred outside of a Starbucks in the Westridge Shopping Center at the corner of The Old Road and Valencia Boulevard in Stevenson Ranch.

The victim, whose name was not released, apparently confronted the suspect regarding comments made to the victim’s girlfriend, which prompted the two men to start fighting. The suspect, Elijah Dejahn Brown, 18, brandished a knife and stabbed the victim several times before fleeing the scene.

The victim and his girlfriend flagged down a CHP officer in the area, who called sheriff deputies and the fire department. The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. His wounds, though serious, are not considered to be life-threatening.

Deputies interviewed witnesses at the scene and determined the suspect was a Canyon Country resident. When they arrived at his home on Galeton Drive, Brown was arrested without incident. He is currently in custody suspected of felony assault with a deadly weapon and being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
