Written by Carol Rock

One distracts, the other grabs, deputies arrest.

Two Newhall residents must have had brain freeze Friday night after they tried to steal the tip jar at Cold Stone Creamery in Valencia.

Damone Gray II entered the store and distracted the staff and customers as Lacey Headley-Collier grabbed the tip jar and ran out with Gray right behind her headed towards Magic Mountain Parkway.

Deputies quickly arrested the pair and booked them at the Santa Clarita Valley station, where Headley-Collier is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. Gray is on probation for a November felony arrest and is being held at Twin Towers jail.

The take from their heist? $14.88.
