2013 Texaco Country Showdown Contestant - Marie Wise-Hawkins

Recognized as a singer of exceptional artistry and versatility, Marie Wise-Hawkins is a captivating young artist who is and has been generating excitement in the professional music world for years.

Featured at community festivals throughout Southern California and most recently Monroeville, Alabama, Marie is honored to be a part of the ground-breaking Alabama China Symposium to revitalize Alabama. On her recent trip to Alabama, Marie received the key to the City and debuted with Hunter Johnson, “The Road to Alabama” for keynote speaker, Governor Robert Bentley, George Landegger, and Coach Gene Stallings, to name just a few.

Early in her career, Marie was recognized as Female Vocalist of the Year by the North American CMA. She has performed at such diverse locations as Walt Disney Hall’s REDCAT, the Louise Mandrell Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, the Mel Tillis Theater in Branson, Missouri, the Gene Autry Museum, the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) in Costa Mesa, Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort, and the Skirball Center. Marie has also won Colgate Country Showdown Competitions at K-HAY (Ventura) and K-RZY (Santa Ynez), was selected by GoCountry 105.1 to perform at Knott’s Berry Farm and has received OMNI Awards in such diverse categories as Country, Country Duo, Broadway and Gospel. Shortly after entering the world of classical voice she also received the Bertha Savage Award for Operatic Performance.

Marie has also demonstrated exceptional performance abilities appearing as Eponine in Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables, Ariel in Shakespeare’s The Tempest, L’écureuil in Maurice Ravel’s Opera, L’enfant et les sortileges and most recently captivated the hearts of both old and young alike for her poignant portrayal of Patsy Cline in the held-over Canyon Theatre Guild’s production of Always… Patsy Cline.

An active philanthropist contributing her musical talents on behalf of numerous non profit organizations, including Relay for Life, the Salvation Army, Henry Mayo Hospital’s Hometown Jamboree honoring Cliffie Stone, and the Child & Family Center’s Taste of the Town. She has also performed for the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Happy Trails Foundation, Carousel Ranch, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Harvest Ride, Villa Esperanza, the Southern California.
