Filmore & Western Railway Co. – Aboard the Filmore Train and go on a scenic excursion.  The train runs all year round, departing on Saturdays and Sundays at noon, and returning at 3:30 p.m..  Your kids will be able to see century old avocado and citrus trees, while enjoying a ride on the old fashioned train.  This event is for the whole family, adult admission is $22, seniors $20, kids 4-12 $12, and children 2-3 $8, while toddlers age 2 and below ride for free.  For more information, and many other train ride options, click here. http://www.fwry.com/2008_brochure/2008_brochure.html

The Hart Park and Museum - The Hart Museum sits atop a hill within a large park area. It is a house museum that was once the retirement home of William S. Hart, a silent-screen cowboy movie star. The Spanish colonial Revival style mansion contains original furnishings, an impressive collection of western art, mementos or early Hollywood and Native American artifacts. In addition, there is a furnished 1910 ranch house which is open for unguided tours.

The surrounding park grounds are operated by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. Picnic facilities are available in the park. There is a nature trail, a live farm animal exhibit, and a herd of bison occupies part of the range area of this 260 acre "Horseshoe Ranch."

From mid-September to mid-June, free tours of the house are available Wednesday through Friday, 10 am to 1 PM12:30) and Saturday and Sunday, 11 am to 4 PM (last tour at 3:30). Heritage Junction Historic Park – The Saugus Train Station Museum is open to the public each Saturday and Sunday (except holidays) from 1 to 4 p.m. The Kingsbury House is open for tours on the first Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Mentyville – Located at the base of Pico Canyon’s chaparral-dominated slopes, Mentryville was an 1880’s oil boom town built around its oil well, Pico No. 4. Named for Charles Alexander Mentry, the oil well’s tenacious driller—and later superintendent of the company that would become Chevron—Mentryville was home to over 100 families until the early 1930’s. Pico No. 4 went on to become the longest continually operating oil well in the world, closing in 1990. Historic buildings still stand including Charles Mentry’s grand thirteen-room mansion, a one-room school house, and a period barn. Mentryville and Pico No. 4 are registered as California State Historical Landmarks.

Trained volunteers are available on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month from 12 noon to 4 p.m. to lead interpretive tours of the historical grounds and buildings.

Harry Carey Ranch – The Tesoro Adobe was built and owned by noted western film actor, Harry Carey, in the 1920’s and 1930’s. During Carey’s prolific film career, he is credited with at least 233 movies; the western movie elite including John Wayne, William S. Hart, and Gary Cooper visited Tesoro adobe. In June, 2005, the County accepted the donation of the Tesoro Adobe Historic Park from Montalvo Properties LLC, the developer of the Tesoro residential community that surrounds the park.
