Heads up is an equestrian program located in Saugus founded in 1986 by Nancy Pitchford. The staff is dedicated to providing quality therapy to disabled children and adults with physical, mental and emotional disabilities. Trained instructors and therapists give private and group lessons that challenge participants by placing them on horseback regardless of their limitations. In addition to riding, participants also learn basic horsemanship skills such as grooming and feeding.

We were fortunate to have Michael Holt – President of Heads Up as our guest on the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight which is sponsored by our friends at Valencia Acura . Michael is one of the Staff Therapists who volunteers at Heads Up Therapy on Horseback. His Wife Mardee and Daughter Tianah are also involved in the program.  We were also privileged to meet 6-year old Crysta - who suffers from Spinal Bifida. Crysta rides at Heads Up and benefits from the equestrian therapy provided to her.

On February 17th, the 2007 Optimist Bowl-A-Thon was held at Santa Clarita Lanes. Team KHTS was proud to participate in this fundraiser which including over 100 bowlers. Close to $10,000 was raised for Heads Up.
