On October 11, 2007, AM-1220 welcomed representatives from the Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers to the KHTS Community Resource Station. Executive Director Cheryl Laymon, Special Events Coordinator Gina Nordenstrom and their new Board Member Connie Ragen Green were featured on the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight - hosted by Janice Murray and sponsored by Valencia Acura.

Rev. Samuel Dixon founded the Samuel Dixon Family Health Center over 20 years ago in the community of Val Verde, CA. Today they serve all residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.

Their mission is to enhance wellness by providing quality outpatient health care services and programs, health education, community resources and referrals.

With their two primary health centers – the Val Verde Health Center and the Canyon Country Health Center, they provide immunizations and vaccines, physicals, screenings and diagnostic tests, well baby care, preventive programs, family planning, women’s health services and treatment of illness and injury.

Samuel Dixon Family Health Center’s ‘Rubber Ducky Regatta’ is back. This event raises needed funds for SDFHC. Ten thousand little yellow rubber duckys will race across the lagoon at Castaic Lake on October 20, 2007. Supervisor Michael Antonovich will be in attendance as the Honorary Chairman of the Regatta to award the Grand Prize
