On November 8th, 2007, the KHTS Community Resource Station welcomed Special Olympics of the Santa Clarita Valley. We featured Melanie Cross, Interim Regional Director on the KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight hosted by Janice Murray and sponsored by Valencia Acura .

Special Olympics held their 7th Annual ‘Spirit Games’ on May 19th, 2007 where 749 athletes competed in sports including swimming, track and field, bocce, tennis and basketball. The games were held at various locations throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.

Special Olympics 5th annual charity golf tournament took place on September 17 at TPC Valencia. Over the years, the tournament has raised over $550,000 for Special Olympics Santa Clarita Valley.

Special Olympics of Southern California is made up of 31 local program/areas in 11 counties and is governed by a Board of Directors made up of a broad cross section of Southern California leadership. Their mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympics-type sports for children and adults disabilities.
