Water district officials ratified a report this week that says there’s enough water for the planned 4,000-home NorthLake project in Castaic, apparently opening the floodgates on a development that was mired in legal wrangling and accusations.
On a 4-1 vote Thursday night, Newhall County Water District directors approved a staff report on water availability for NorthLake based on a study from Stetson Engineers Inc. of Covina.
Board member Lynne Plambeck was the lone dissenting voter.
The approval follows the filing of a lawsuit by developer SunCal of Woodland Hills against Newhall County Water District, alleging water was being withheld. Water district officials say SunCal never applied to them for water for the project, and the developer later dropped the suit.
