Canyon Country Little League Breathes New Life into Park Print E-mail
Canyon Country Little League has been around for a while. It’s a piece of Santa Clarita that many kids have passed through at some points in their lives, and it has taught countless numbers of children how to play America’s past time.

But with age came uneven fields, an over worked canteen, and furry animals that like to dig holes in outfield grass.

That was the scene when the new board of directors took over. This time though, they opted to do something about it, so they gathered up the volunteers and started work.

First, they contracted with the county to eradicate the tunneling creatures that were making the outfield look like a used minefield. Then they brought in dirt movers and shovels, and completely leveled out the entire field. The next step was re-seeding the grass, which will help the ball move consistently in any area.

And the Home Plate Snack Bar, which serves food to hungry ballplayers and spectators, was re-vamped and re-organized. Some additional menu items were added, and they got a new health rating.

Now, while Board of Directors is already looking ahead to future improvements, they are inviting everyone down to the ball park on Saturday morning to see for themselves how it’s changed. Registration will be taking place for spring baseball and softball, and you can even grab a bite at the new Home Plate Snack Bar!

Canyon Country Little League is the only Authorized and Chartered Little League in the City limits. That means that their tournament teams get to compete regionally, and, if they’re good enough, in the Little League World Series.
Other baseball parks operate under a different organization.

If you would like to attend the “open house/registration day”, head on down Sierra highway, just past Vasquez Street. You can also visit them online at ccll.org.
