City Looking at Crash Site

City engineers are analyzing traffic data from the Valencia intersection that was the scene of a recent fatal crash, trying to determine if any changes need to be made…

Six-year-old Austin Williamson was killed after his family’s sport utility vehicle was broadsided by another SUV that was turning left Nov. 21 at the intersection of Arroyo Park Drive and McBean Parkway in front of the Granary Square Shopping Center.
“Certainly, the loss of a child is very tragic and we want to make sure we’re responding responsibly,” said Gail Ortiz, spokeswoman for the city of Santa Clarita.
The city’s traffic engineer, Andrew Yi, received the sheriff’s traffic report from the crash last week and is in the process of analyzing it, along with the history of crashes at the intersection.
The Sheriff’s Department has determined the woman driving the Lexus SUV was “the party most at fault.”
