City To Hold Class on Attention Deficit Disorder Tonight!

Workshop Will Explore Root Causes and Alternatives to Medication

Raising children with Attention Deficit Disorder (A.D.D.) can be very difficult and many parents find that treatment options for the disorder can be limited. On Thursday, November 16, from 7 to 9 p.m., the City of Santa Clarita’s Youth and Family Program will host a free workshop, “Parenting Children with A.D.D.”

The workshop will be instructed by Dr. Margaret MacDonald, a family practitioner specializing in mind and body medicine, and Steven Kassel, a Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in the Santa Clarita Valley who has specialized in Neurofeedback since 1985.

Dr. MacDonald, who has been featured on ABC News, has explored treatments for children with ADHD through a new system that combines brain wave monitoring, biofeedback and video games called ‘Smart Brain Games.’

One parent of an ADHD child commented that Dr. MacDonald’s ‘Smart Brain Games’ is as “close to a magic bullet as I’ve ever seen."

Parenting Children with A.D.D.,” will be held at City Hall in the Council Chambers, located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard. Translation, special accommodations and auxiliary aids and services are available upon request. The workshop is free, but space is limited. Parents or guardians interested in the workshop should call (661) 255-4965 to reserve a spot.
