COC Grads Told to Aim High, Be Bold and Go Forward

1,182 Graduate at College of the Canyons

The outdoor Honor Grove on the College of the Canyons campus overflowed with well-wishers as hundreds of graduating students clad in blue caps and gowns received their degrees Friday evening. This is the college’s largest graduating class, with 1,182 students — 702 women and 480 men, according to the school. While it is a jump of only 30 graduates from 2005, it is a leap from 2001 when 653 graduated. Haruki Imacka of Japan sat in the audience to lend support to three close friends from his homeland who were among 24 foreign students to graduate.
