County Seal Change Back in Spotlight

A San Fernando Valley man resurrected the issue of the Los Angeles County seal this week, taking out papers for a 2006 ballot measure to restore the original symbol with its tiny Christian cross.

“Given the 92 percent favorability rate about keeping the original seal, we think this is an issue that will get people out to vote,” said David Hernandez, an unsuccessful Republican candidate for a San Fernando Valley congressional district last November.
Hernandez said the measure would appear on the same ballot that carries the re-election bids of supervisors Gloria Molina and Zev Yaroslavsky, both of whom voted in favor of changing the seal.
