One of the very BEST events at the City of Santa Clarita’s 12th annual Cowboy Festival is the Artists’ Quick draw, which will be held on Thursday, April 28, 8 p.m. at the fabulous William S. Hart Mansion and Museum, which sits atop a hill with the Hart park area. The Spanish colonial Revival style mansion contains original furnishings, an impressive collection of western art, mementos of early Hollywood and Native American artifacts. Against this backdrop of priceless western art and artifacts, 13 renowned artists will create their own works of art, which will be auctioned off at the end of one hour. Stroll through the mansion, enjoying wine and cheese and watch original art being created.
This year’s impressive line up of artists includes: Morgan Weistling, award-winning artist, including the 2001 recipient of the Prix de West award at the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma; Don Vernon, the Cowboy Festival’s first poster artist; and local artists Reine River, Tandy Zorba, Frank Rock, Jay Wegter and Joe Ortiz. Other artists include: Kelly Donovan, Elin Pendleton, Nancy Degan, Joan Wright, Patti Doolittle and Lucy Seaman.
This is a great opportunity for guests to purchase a quality piece of western artwork, created by celebrated artists, at below gallery prices. Tickets are on sale now for $20 per person, which includes admission to the Artists’ Quick Draw and refreshments. Those with a paid ticket for the “Weave of the West” will be admitted at no charge.
