It is often said football is a game of inches. With rivals as closely matched as the Canyon and Hart football teams, Friday Night’s CIF-Southern Section Division II Championship at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Proved every little inch would count toward determining a champion. In the end, that one inch was the distance that kept Hart senior receiver Troy Yudin just shy of the 1-yard-line needed for one last shot at the end zone. Canyon defensive back J.J. DiLuigi got in the way, with a tackle to preserve a 21-13 victory. For the Cowboys, holding Hart that inch shy on a fourth down play meant their first CIF title in 20 years.
