Sheriff’s deputies shot a knife-brandishing man on the sidewalk Friday night in Stevenson Ranch after he allegedly didn’t follow their orders. The deputies were responding to a reported stabbing.
“They were yelling, ‘Don’t do it! Don’t do it!’ and then he lunged at them,” said Evelyn Lozano, 43, who witnessed the shooting as she stood outside her home at the corner of The Old Road and Sagecrest Circle.
The man held a knife and deputies shot him several times after he refused to obey their orders, said Capt. Patti Minutello of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The female stabbing victim and the wounded man — who may have played a role in the stabbing — were rushed to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. There, they were both in surgery, Minutello said. Their identities weren’t released as of press time after 10 p.m.
