A man apparently drank himself to death Thursday night in front of a Canyon Country 7-Eleven.
A passerby found the unidentified man clutching a bottle of whiskey, slumped against the base of a pay phone.
“He was purple,” said a woman who discovered the man, who may have been homeless, just after 8 p.m. near the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Sierra Highway.
She described the man as lying beneath the pay phones a few feet away from the convenience store’s entrance. He rested against the wall, his neck bent so his chin met his chest.
