Several crashes dotted Santa Clarita roadways Friday; one outside of Valencia High School left a teenager seriously injured on the last day of class.
A 15-year-old Valencia student was struck by a truck as she and two of her friends dashed across Newhall Ranch Road. The Girls left a 7-Eleven store near the school and ran across the street at about 12:30 p.m., said sheriff’s Lt. Brenda Cambra. One girl saw the truck coming and ran back to the curb. Emergency crews assessed the teenager’s injuries on the scene, deeming them serious but non-life threatening.
Highways and county roads saw several additional minor crashes throughout the afternoon.
