The temporary homeless shelter may be closing its doors Tuesday but talks are under way for a permanent location in Canyon Country, officials said Friday.
The nonprofit group that has operated a winter shelter in Santa Clarita for the past eight years was aided in its search by the office of Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, who resurrected the shelter at the 11th hour this year.
“The supervisor is very interested in identifying a site and finding a permanent site for the shelter,” said Paul Novak, planning deputy for Antonovich. “He is sensitive to where it is located. It’s March. We want to be working on this issue now, not scrambling in October or November.”
