Steve Barry, LunaOlivo’s owner, stopped by KHTS AM-1220 with samples in hand to discuss the season’s newest flavors.LunaOlivo Offers Variety Of Artisan Olive Oil, Balsamic For Holi

“What we do is we source the very finest olive oils and then use fresh, natural ingredients in all of our blends,” he said. “Our olive oils are unlike anything that’s out there on the market right now.”

First of the olive oils to be sampled were LunaOlivo’s most popular flavors, basil and garlic.

Barry described the basil olive oil as having a “fresh leaf of basil” flavor, while the garlic olive oil gives a “fresh clove of garlic” flavor.

Then Barry went on to introduce a thick, rich balsamic imported from Italy, the traditional modena balsamic.

“This is a traditional modena style, so it’s going to be sweet on the front of your mouth, has kind of a fruity mid-palate and then it goes slightly bitter on the finish,” he said. “Balsamic really changes as it glides across your palate. We always recommend to people when they’re tasting balsamic like this that they lay it in the front of their mouth, and just like wine, let it glide across your palate.”

For those who enjoy spicy flavors, Barry introduced LunaOlivo’s newest flavor, a hot roasted habanero balsamic called El Diablo.

“We did the chipotle originally and we got such a huge response that our spicy ones just continue to grow,” he said. “When we’re doing tastings, it attracts so much attention and people love it.”
