The 11th annual SCV Marathon took place Sunday, and thousands of runners took part in what has become Santa Clarita’s signature sporting event.
The route began on McBean Parkway, in front of the Valencia Town Center, and wound its way across Santa Clarita, through trails and streets alike.
All In all, the total length of the marathon was just over 26 miles. The weather for the day included ample sunshine and some wind at times.
The first place finisher for the men’s division was Kevin Dean from Lake Hughes, California who did it in 2 hours, 50 minutes and 56 seconds, which is an average of 6:32 per mile.
First place finisher for the Women’s divisions was Carrie Blakemore of Carpinteria, California who had a time of 3 hours 15 minutes and 25 seconds. That’s an average time of 7:28 per mile!
The event also featured a half marathon, a 5k run and a “Kid K”.
