Pitchess May Jail Mentally Ill Inmates

Move would be part of a $143 million eight-phase security plan.

As part of the Sheriff’s Department’s plan to open up more cells for high-security inmates, a proposal would relocate "less acute" mentally ill inmates to the partially open South Facility of the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic.
