Pros and Cons of Annexation

Residents in unincorporated portions of the Santa Clarita Valley could save an estimated $200 a year on their utility bills and businesses could save up to $30,000 a year by annexing into the city of Santa Clarita. 

The savings would come from jettisoning the 5 percent utility users tax that the county collects, but the city doesn’t, according to Santa Clarita Treasurer Darren Hernandez.
