2351 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20515
Dear Congressman McKeon:
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce and our 1700 business members, I’d like to start by thanking you for filing HR 5471, the Soledad Canyon Mine Leases Adjustment Act. Our city, and our local Chamber of Commerce are deeply concerned about the Cemex mega-mine proposal being planned for this valley and region.
The Board of Directors of the Chamber met on June 20, 2006. At this meeting, the subject of the Cemex mega-mine project was placed on the agenda for discussion. At the meeting the board unanimously voted to support HR 5471, and they asked that I communicate with you this decision. They are very supportive of your efforts and appreciative of your actions concerning the filing of this most important piece of federal legislation.
They asked that you please continue your efforts to work for the passage of HR 5471. Certainly, individual members of the board would be available to support you or your staff with the passage of the bill.
We thank you in advance for your continued work towards the ultimate passage of HR 5471
Sincerely,
Larry G. Mankin Chris A. Fall
President/CEO Chair, Board of Directors
