Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) and Assemblywoman Sharon Runner (R-Antelope Valley) co-wrote letters to local elected city council members in the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley and Victor Valley urging them to help enforce immigration laws by developing creative solutions to address the problem of illegal immigration.
“We have been greatly disappointed by the federal government’s slow response to illegal immigration. What has been even more frustrating is the State Legislature has not only failed to respond to illegal immigration but passes laws to further encourage illegal aliens coming to California,” said Senator Runner. “Whether it’s giving Cal-Grants to illegal immigrants or drivers’ licenses, the liberal majority in the Legislature is committed to giving our tax dollars away to illegal aliens.”
Both the City of Lancaster and the City of Santa Clarita have recently developed ordinances to obtain commitments from business license recipients to hire only legal residents. Another city in Southern California has adopted a similar requirement for landlords that rent to illegal aliens.
Assemblywoman Runner said, “We encourage our local elected officials to develop innovative solutions to help combat illegal immigration especially in light of the fact that the federal and state government have failed to adequately address this important issue. We are committed to helping in any way we can.”
